Human Powered Vehicle SPEED Team

Human Powered Vehicle SPEED Team

Cheap people-powered transportation could be a game-changer in remote, developing regions.

Go wheel-to-wheel with 50 other schools in this annual competition sponsored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Into e-bikes? This is your team, as AMSE has added electrical assist to the eHPV Challenge.

The Human Powered Vehicle Competition Team is a part of our SPEED program (Student Projects for Engineering Experience and Design). SPEED is a 100% student-run and managed team that consists of 15-20 students from engineering programs and other majors across the university, working together to solve a specific hands-on challenge.

About Human Powered Vehicle

Human Powered Vehicle is a SPEED team at Clarkson University. It encompasses a competition to design and build a vehicle that is completely powered by the human body. These machines are aerodynamic, safe, and comfortable. According to ASME (the competition organizer), our objective is, "to provide an opportunity for engineering students to demonstrate application of sound engineering principles toward the development of fast, efficient, sustainable, and practical human-powered vehicles."
